Do you suffer from dry skin? It can be very difficult to find a good quality lotion. Most commercially available lotions are filled with many ingredients that are artificial and sometimes known to be harmful. Some of these ingredients even can cause cancer. Often products claiming to be all natural actually use the word fragrance to disguise the many artificial ingredients included and the worst part is that it is perfectly legal.
Some of the ingredients to avoid are Ceteareth-20, Sodium Hydroxide, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Benzyl Alcohol, Propylparaben, Benzyl Salicylate, Coumarin, Linalool, and Limonene. This is just a small sample of some of the most common ingredients in lotions and cosmetics today. Check your favorite lotion and see how many of these are contained in it, you will likely be very surprised.
To get the best products for your skin your skin care professional should be able to answer some tough questions. If a product claims to be organic do they have the signed certification to prove it? Certainly if it truly is organic they would be proud to provide this.
The most important tip is never choosing a lotion simply because it smells nice. Unfortunately marketers know that much emotion to buy is tied up in the sense of smell, just think of the last time you smelled fresh baked bread or cookies, or smelled cologne someone special used to wear. What emotions do those smells trigger? We should always buy skin care products based on their ingredients and then select the scent you like the best, read the label first then smell it that way you don't get emotion involved.
