When we become stressed with our lives, all sorts of things can happen. We may want to shut the doors and not talk to anybody, or we may want to just start punching the closest thing near us. The stress that happens to us often can lead to frustration which can lead to anger which can lead to depression. This makes it impossible for us to live steady and peaceful lives.
The first thing one should do when dealing with stress is to be aware that the stress is happening to them. Don't just all of a sudden go into a fit. Learn from the moment when stress hits so we can be ready for it the next time. To do this, when you suddenly get frustrated or anger, just stop what you're doing and take a step back. Go to some place quiet where you are alone.
The second thing we should do is calm down. This can be done through breathing exercises where one is focused on the sound and pattern of their breathing. Make sure you inhale deeply and exhale longer than you inhale. Let the oxygen come in and out through your body. Feel and focus on this and you'll find yourself not worrying too much about what has caused you to be stressed.
The third thing to do after calming down is asking yourself what caused your stress? Was it something that a person said? Is it having too big of a work load? Is it doing too many things at once? Stress often happens as a result of not being able to be in control. Accept that you cannot control everything, but try your best to manage what you can. Write down the problems that cause you stress and focus on solutions or changes that can make in order to prevent stress the next time.
