Managing Stress

What is Stress?

Stress is the inability of the brain or you can say warning signals from the brain that it can no longer sustain the pressure. You maybe working too much without considering that stress can be bad for health.

Effects of Stress

Too much stress can make you unable to concentrate for longer periods. It can be very harmful for the body as it produces cortisol which is a chemical in the body harmful for the vital organs of a human body. Too much stress can cause diabetes psychological disturbances such as cognitive functioning of the brain. If you are too stressed up you may not be able to remember or grasp anything. Stress can also result in messed up relationships with the immediate family members and spouse.

What Happens in Stress?

Biologically there are certain neurotransmitters in the brain having different functions such as serotonin, endorphins and dopamine. When any of these neurotransmitters are excreted excessively due to over working of the brain without taking proper sleep and rest they can cause stress and fluctuating mood.

Coping Strategies for Stress

One of the best ways to cope with the mounting pressure and stress is to exercise for at least four days a week. Engaging yourself in physical workout can lower your stress levels. Physical workout causes the brain to produce endorphins which is a natural healer of stress. Regular workout everyday can result in happiness and well being. Taking proper diet is also important. Your diet must contain rice, vegetables, beans and fruits. Try to avoid junk food and anything containing cholesterol.

Meditation and Yoga

If physical exercise is very time consuming you can learn to meditate. You can spend fifteen to twenty minutes meditating daily early in the morning or in the evening. While preparing to meditate you must make sure that the place you meditate is calm and quite. Meditation helps calm your brain. It reduces the electrical signals in your brain resulting in peace. Yoga can also be very beneficial as it can you to reduce stress. You can half an hour daily to practice yoga. It can result in good health and peace of mind.

No matter how busy you are you must find enough time to relax your mind through meditation, yoga or physical workout as it can increase your productivity level and result in happiness and well being. "Health is Wealth"
