In this fast paced world, it is normal for anyone to come under stress to cope with the speed and demands of our everyday life, be it professional or even domestic. Not only the grown ups, even the young children are feeling the burden of stress of their parent's high expectations from them, peer pressure and so on.
But, as the saying goes, there is nothing impossible in this world, and where there is a will, there is way. We can not avoid stress completely from our lives, but the monster of stress can be tackled easily if we follow a few things regularly in our lives.
The most powerful weapon to kill stress is Relaxation; relaxation of the body as well as of mind. When we think of stress relief, the first thing that comes to our mind is Yoga. Yoga combines both, the activities to relax our body as well as to relax our mind to relieve it from stress. Physical relaxation is achieved by the muscle relaxation techniques and the mental relaxation is achieved through meditation and deep breathing exercises etc., which are the most important part of yoga. When these exercises are followed regularly, we see that the stress level goes down and we feel more confident and calm in any type of situation to handle it perfectly.
Muscle relaxation exercises include tensing and then relaxing the muscles. These simple steps help relieving the muscles from stress.
Stress hits both body and mind, but it is more important to relieve mind from it than body. A very effective relaxation technique is deep breathing. During deep breathing you take a deep breath from your abdomen through nostrils, filling your lungs to the fullest with fresh air. This results into inhaling more oxygen that relieves your mind from stress. Short breaths cause more anxiety. So, whenever you feel stressed or tensed, try out this deep breathing technique and you will feel relaxed and calm.
For deep breathing, sit in an upright position and take deep breaths from your nose such that your stomach rises. Now throw out the breath from your mouth contracting your stomach. This way you add in more oxygen into blood and throw out a lot of carbon di oxide, thus reducing the toxin from your body. This relieves stress. You may perform these deep breathing exercises while lying on the floor/bed if having difficulty in sitting.
Stress relief exercises should be given importance in your daily life. It would be good to spare some time everyday for this purpose so that you remain fresh and energetic throughout the day. Though you can perform it at any time of the day, but it is best to practice it early morning.
Don't go with other's sayings. You should follow the stress relief technique that suits you the best. Consider your time schedule, your living atmosphere and most importantly your comfort level, to select a suitable relaxation technique for yourself.
Once you are able to get over your stress, things will change your way on their own. So Relax!
