Most people will at some time in their lives suffer pressure from a variety of sources. This can be pressure from siblings, pressure from work or pressure around money and a whole host of other things.
So, what can we do to deal with this pressure? It is very easy to get completely overcome by the effects of pressure or stress, this can lead to arguments with your family and friends, lead to you feeling down and can even lead to depression.
I believe that exercise is key. If you exercise you release endorphins which in turn make you feel good. Plus exercising is a proven way of distracting your attention from problems which you may be facing.
Set goals. If you are under pressure from work for example, if you are to set milestones, this can make what otherwise may seem an impossible task much more achievable. You will get a real sense of progress as you complete the milestones and this will make the task or problem much less of an issue.
Focus on what you can do now. If you work hard on each part of the issue which you can change now this will make the problem feel a lot less of an issue.
Visualise how you will feel once the problem is solved. This will help to begin making you feel good.
Have fun. Take up a hobby, or even just meet with friends. This again can help to shift your attention away from a particular issue or problem. Once you have had some fun, this will then make returning to your task less daunting.
If the pressure which you are experiencing is work related, take breaks. Go for a walk at lunchtime as opposed to just staying in the office. The change of scenery will help to break the monotony, and help to switch your focus away from the up-hill struggle which you may be facing.
Take a holiday! This may not be the right answer if you have an immediate target, but even a weekend away can make a big difference and give you the opportunity to break the cycle which may be getting you down.
If you are facing pressure in relation to money, focus on how you would feel if you had all the money in the world. This will help to get the negative thoughts which you may be experiencing out of your mind and enable you to begin to focus on more positive things.
Talk to people about how you are feeling. This can help to generate additional suggestions and ideas of how to overcome the problem which you may be facing.
