Do you cringe every time a potentially large project comes your way?
Do you hope that someone else is stuck with the huge project?
Do you think that you can do the gigantic project, but in reality, you will find an excuse not to get involved?
This project at first will seem like a great mountain to climb and a fantastic challenge as well.
A client or your manager has finally given you a project with a long lead-time. It is an assignment with the luxury of time, be careful not squander it.
1) Start right away- Get on it right way while your understanding and knowledge of the project is fresh in your mind.
2) Energy is high- Your enthusiasm for the project is high and you are ready to get it done. You feel great and confident that you are the right person for this job.
3) Staying creative- This new project will have problems that will be needed to be solved early, perhaps tools or supplies that have been over looked are now becoming an issue, or a software program must be redesigned just a bit to make the project easier must be appropriated. These extras are easier to get when the project is still new and everyone agrees.
Doing the physical tasks can be a daunting.
1) A little goes a long- Spending a little time on the project each day will keep the momentum going. This way every single thought and action step you have on the project will continue to be positive. You will think to yourself, I am on target, I am getting this done.
2) Do not be tempted to put it off- With each day missed and time wasted this and every thought will be increasingly negative. Oh my gosh, I have not even started yet can add up to big work and even more difficulties. When your attitude goes down you will loose altitude, your project bubble will burst.
When you strive for accomplishment, the rewards are many. For instance, you will notice smoother work and personal relationships, fewer conflicts; this means a whole lot less stress.
In addition, the confidence in your ability to stick it out long enough will give you a deeper understanding and enjoyment of your life. There is a win-win in tackling a mountainous project.
