Eye Makeup Can Make the Woman
By Lin Greene

Eye Shadow Types
Eye Makeup selection can be based on your age, event, or style. Choose one of the various forms that fit your personality and expertise: liquid, pressed, loose, creamy, mineral, or stick, to name a few. Some are easy to use and others are less forgiving. Begin with a pressed mineral powder eye color, that blends easily and seamlessly, and branch out from there.

Most eye colors fall into one of 4 eye shadow types: matte, shimmer, frost, or glitter. Your occasion or profession may dictate a subdued look. Here, a matte (without any shine) eye shadow is your perfect choice. An 'After 5' evening dress looks best with a bit of shimmer or even glitter as a complimenting cosmetic. If you're under 20, with many light-hearted occasions on your calendar, your eye makeup can reflect that more youthful sparkle common with a frost or glitter. Depending on your style, occasion, and youth, several shadows might need to be in your cosmetic bag!

Eye Colors
Some women prefer shadows that match their outfits, other choose eye makeup that accents their eyes. And you might just wear the same shade every day out of convenience, skill level, or boredom!

Most women use at least 2 complimenting colors i.e. taupe and dark chocolate, or violet and light lavender. Others opt for 3 eye shadows-two coordinating tones and an accent eye color that makes their eyes 'Pop,' or brings in the color of their outfit that day. Start with 2 colors. Learn to apply them with much blending, then add a third.

Cosmetic colors come in cool, warm, or neutral. The Cools include pinks, blues, neon yellow, and purples. Warm colors are comprised of banana yellow, cocoa browns, bronze, gold, and orange, among others. Black, grey, navy, and dark brown, etc. make up the Neutrals. Greens and reds can fall into all three categories.

Eye makeup can be tricky. Poor color choices and types can leave your eyes too dark, closed in, inappropriate to the occasion or venue, and without 'Pop!' Experimenting with a Skin Care Specialist saves time, money and mistakes. It will allow you to be comfortable using the Basic colors and see which eye shadow type fits your personality and activity. Whatever you decide, it is worth the effort. Eye makeup done well gives you a finished look... youthful, mysterious, and marvelous!
