If you are planning on trying out red hair color, be aware that you may need to change your makeup as well, particularly if the red is quite a departure from your normal hair color. If you are just going a shade or two lighter that probably will not make much difference. If, however, you are changing from a brunette to a strawberry blond you may need to invest in some new eye-shadows, blush and lipstick.
Foundation: If you are now a red head you will want to stay away from foundations that have a red or pink base, as they may make your face, well...glow. Try to stick with a foundation that closely matches your usual skin color, with a tinge of yellow, gold or peach to them. If you have dark skin, go for a darker foundation, light skin people should choose light foundation.
Eye-Shadow: Usually, cosmeticians recommend that you go with earth tones if you are sporting a shock of red hair and if you follow their advice you will not go wrong. If you want to try some other colors go for the rich plum colors, or dark greens. Stay away from the light shades, including pink or blue shades as these will clash with your red hair color.
Lipsticks and Blush: Usually you won't go wrong if you choose similar shades for your lips and your cheeks. Reds and pinks are a no-no but neutral or gold-brown colors usually look great. A gold-red would also look good. Choose your lipstick first, and then find a blush that is the same shade and coloring.
Eyebrows: One thing that people often forget, when changing hair color, especially if it is a drastic change, is that you may need to either lighten or darken your eyebrows. Of course, you do not have to, but if you do match your eyebrows to your new hair color, it will look more natural.
