To Stop Biting Nails - A Technique That Will Help You Quit the Habit
By Ed Marks

I know, you have just about reached the end of your tether with your nail biting. Your hands are torn and resembling something out of a horror movie and you cannot shake this habit that is driving you crazy. One technique that I have found can help you immediately to stop biting nails.

Nail biting is a habit that is senseless to say the least and can take over many strong willed people. Sometimes after a session of nail biting the person does not even know they have just been chewing the ends out of their fingers for the last 15 minutes. It is very usually a habit that you do not even know you are committing. So this leads me to a technique of visualization to stop biting your nails.

Positive Visualization - Visualizing the nails that you really would like, the nails that you see in the glossy magazines is the first step. Visualize the result that you want constantly, train your mind that that is what you really want and your habits will start to change. When the finger starts to move towards the mouth the visualization must kick in. The visions of the nails you want must take over your action

Negative Visualization - On the flip side of the positive thought process is negative visualization. The images in your mind of what you are doing to your nails and what they could end up looking like is also an image that can scare your finger out of your mouth. Constant thoughts about your bitten nails and then thoughts about how they can end up is terrific technique to help with this habit.

Imagine what you are chewing when you bite your nails. Your fingers touch anything and everything during the day. You may pat dogs, clean up mess, work in dirt, touch door handles that others have touched all actions where you can pick up many germs. Then you put them into your mouth. Visualize that and think what you are doing to your body system.

Try constant visualization to stop biting nails and think what the positive and the negative to what you are doing actually is.
