Need Energy? The Benefits of CoQ10
By Bud Tarreto

CoQ10 plays a key role in producing energy in the mitochondria, the part of a cell responsible

for the production of energy in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate).

ATP is a high-energy phosphate molecule required to provide energy for the body and is the main source of usable energy for the activities of the cells. ATP is fuel for your body just gasoline is for a a car.

CoQ10 benefits most of your bodily functions, and is one of the most important substances your body and skin needs to stay healthy.

CoQ10 functions to neutralize free radicals and reactive oxygen species - those damaging molecules that are formed simply by breathing and eating. Cells use enzymes to break down chemical bonds in molecules to produce energy. Enzymes just can't perform without their supporting cast of coenzymes. Many vitamins and CoQ10 are coenzymes and without them energy production is impaired.

Many studies have shown that people suffering from different forms of heart disease are deficient in coenzyme Q10. This makes sense, as congestive heart failure results from the inability of the heart to generate the energy and strength necessary to maintain circulation.

The Benefits of CoQ10:

* It's main function is to act as a catalyst for metabolism (the breaking down of food into energy).

* Your heart cells need an abundant supply because of the massive amount of energy needed to keep functioning properly. It also helps control blood pressure and improve circulation.

* It is a very important nutrient that is used to treat serious conditions including heart disease.

* It is an antioxidant that protects and helps to neutralize the damage caused by free radicals that cause oxidative stress in your body and skin.

* It also protects the lipoprotein LDL cholesterol from lipid peroxidation, a particularly cell damaging reactive oxygen species.

* CoQ10 helps maintain healthy gums

* It protects nerves and may help slow degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's.
