Bad Breath and How to Remedy the Problem
By Peter Moroney

Have you ever found yourself speaking to someone in a very close conversation and regardless of whether you knew them or not, you realised that they had bad breath that absolutely stank? You knew that to continue talking at such a close range to this person would make you feel physically sick. Hopefully they would notice the look of disgust on your face and that it would set off a few alarm bells for them to realise there was a problem.

What a difficult situation to find yourself in, I bet you could not wait to get away as fast as possible. Bad breath causes people to take evasive action, usually to run like hell. If it's someone you do not know really well thats fine, but what if it's a good friend or a work colleague that you have to deal with on a regular basis. You know something has to be said or done and hopefully in a delicate way.

So how do you approach the subject of bad breath? First of all it is common knowledge that regular brushing of the teeth and gargling with a mouth wash is good oral hygiene practices that can help prevent bad breath. Anyone who does not get into the habit of doing these practices each and every day can only be described as being lazy. If a person knows they have a bad breath problem they should deal with it immediately and the ones that do not know should be told about it in the nicest possible way.

The best way to approach the subject is directly, perhaps you could offer them some mints, explaining that they may have a problem and suggest they see a dentist or even their doctor. They may have a medical problem they are unaware of which is causing the bad odour and may need some medical treatment to cure it. It is very important they are made aware of the situation no matter how difficult you may find it.

Hopefully this approach will help most people with bad breath to understand how serious their problem is. And they will appreciate the fact that you were able to explain the situation to them in a way that was a sincere approach to a very delicate and urgent problem that needed to be solved.

On a finishing note it is very important that the person be told about their bad breath problem, you may decide on a different approach, that is well and good but the important fact remains that they be told as soon as possible so they can get whatever help is needed to give them fresh breath again.
