Hair salons offer a wide range of colours and it can often be hard to choose the one that best suits you. Many people pick a hair colour that reflects the seasons, for example blonde in summer, brunette for winter and maybe a warm red in autumn. Changing your hair colour can be really fun and when it goes right can make you feel great. When you are unsure of a colour you should always go for a semi permanent colorant otherwise you may find it hard to cover up if you do not like it.
Home dyes are a really cheap method of colouring your hair but be careful, you should always choose a dye that is made from a reputable company and do not pick a colour that is too drastic if you have never used it before. Dark shades such as dark brown can often result in an a shade that is very black so be sure to check the guidelines on the box.
For the best result when colouring your hair you should visit a salon. Some simple highlight, low lights or a full head of one colour can make your hair look bright, conditioned and glossy. Always discuss the colour you are looking for with the hairdresser as they will advise you on what will look best with your skin tone.
There are many different shades of blonde, brunette and red available therefore it can often be hard to pick which one suits you best. If you are thinking about going blonde then some of the shades to consider are; dirty blonde, light blonde, golden blonde and platinum blonde.
Platinum is very hard to achieve and will require a lot of maintenance, if you are not naturally fair haired be prepared to make regular hair appointments as roots are not a good look. If you have darker skin then blonde can look nice when mixed with some darker tones, it can give a more natural look and can make maintaining the colour a little easier.
Brunette hair is extremely versatile as there are so many shades to choose from, from light brown to caramel and these colours work great as either highlights or lowlights. Light blonde is perfect for a sun kissed look that still looks quite natural whilst dark brown adds a little mystery.
For a more radical change why not try going red? You may already have red hair and therefore have a great opportunity to spice it up with some and enhance its vibrancy however if it is not natural then achieving a great red hair colour can be tricky and hard to keep. Red looks great on long locks and comes in a variety of shades such as dark red or autumn leaves.
No matter what colour you can it should compliment your skin tone and make you feel good about yourself. You must look after the colour with regular conditioning and not over washing it as it will fade a lot faster. Discuss with your hairdresser what will suit you and what colour is achievable then you can choose what colour you have more fun with!
