Age and gravity take a huge toll on our bodies. As the years roll by, most of us notice some significant changes; our waistlines tend to expand a bit, our weight tends to increase, and our skin begins to lose a lot of its' elasticity. Sadly, even our hair suffers from the aging process. As we age our bodies experience hormonal changes that leads to thinner hair strands and more graying.
A reduction in our oil production affects the skin all over our bodies and accounts for drier skin and more wrinkles. It is also a contributing factor to our hair becoming drier over the years. Coupled with that is the damage to our hair from too much sun exposure and too much heat from hair dryers and styling tools. So, what can be done to combat these issues? It turns out that there is a lot we can do to keep our hair in A-1 condition.
First, decide which length of hair best suits you. If you like long hair and you think it looks attractive and healthy, go for it. Age should not be a determining factor as to whether you wear your hair long or short. Keep in mind, however, that a good cut is essential no matter what length your hair is. Many style experts feel that asymmetrical or choppy cuts are most attractive on a greater number of people than are severe, blunt cuts. Experiment a bit and find what works best for you.
Conditioning helps with all hair types but it is especially beneficial for long hair. If you choose to keep your hair longer, consider weekly deep conditioning treatments. There are products specifically designed for this process that are readily available and fairly inexpensive at any drug store.
