How to Straighten Your Curly Hair
By Robert Beesseli

If you have curly hair, chances are there are sometimes in life that you want to wear it straight. But one thing that you have to keep in mind is that some methods used to straighten hair can cause damage that you don't want. So you want to straighten your hair as carefully as possible - so as not to damage your hair, and to have good results.

One of the only methods that can be used to straighten very curly hair is heat. If you have very thick and curly hair, there is very little chance that you'll be able to keep it straight without using some form of heat, or keeping large magnetic curlers in for extended periods of time. But if you don't use heat, the hair will revert back to curly even more quickly. If you do use heat it will still revert, but will last a little bit longer.

The first thing they you should do when you're trying to straighten your curly hair is make sure that is clean and washed. Make sure to dry the hair completely. Some people feel as though they should use a blow dryer to dry their hair. But actually, this is the necessary and causes additional damage, because you are putting additional heat on your hair when you use a blow dryer. You can let your hair air dry in braids, or in ponytails. This is a much healthier way to let the hair dry. But if you must dry it with a dryer, then go ahead, but try to try it on a cool or moderate setting. Some people cannot tolerate cold air, and insist on drying their hair on a hot setting. If this is the case with you, then just make sure to use your heat protection before you use the dryer. If you air dry, use your heat protection on your dry hair. Then you want to make sure to let your hair dry completely again - if the heat protection is watery - before you use of flatiron to straighten it. Use a flat iron in combination with a fine toothed comb, in order to get your curly hair straight.
