Why is it that people are never satisfied with what they have? If they are tall they want to be short, short wants to be tall, curly wants straight and straight hair wants to be curly. We are all products of too much, not enough, too big, too small, too round, too straight.
What if just for today, you were to say to your friend, co-worker, family or spouse, "I love _____ about me." Or even, "I like _____ about me." Do you think the world would cease to rotate? What is it that makes it so easy to point out the negative, the weaknesses, the imperfections and the flaws, but ghastly uncomfortable to point out things we like about ourselves. We have them, you know. Something we are grateful for, our nose isn't too big, our eyes are a pretty color, our hair looks good today, something big or little, comment on it today and give other the permission to like something about themselves. Wouldn't it change the world if people were given permission to like themselves? I think we should try it and see what happens. It could revolutionize the world, well maybe not the world, but our little spot on the world. If people where liberated enough to be positive about themselves, good things could happened.
Now I'm not saying if you have straight hair you can't use curly hair products, or visa versa, I'm just saying, just for today, be positive about yourself, give yourself permission to like something about yourself and see if that doesn't change your attitude for the day. Take it one step further, appreciate something about someone else and let them know too. We could stop the too much, not enough, too tall, too short, too straight, too curly, just for today.
