When considered in a logical light, raw food diets are actually the best for us human beings. In days of old the major portion of a person's diet was in raw form; figs, honey, dates and all manner of fruit to name a few natural foods. The promoters of this method of eating, firmly believe that raw food has vital enzymes that are lost in cooking.
The different types of raw food diets include eating only uncooked food or food warmed to no more than 105 degrees Fahrenheit; diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, seeds, sprouts, nuts and beans. There are other variations of the raw diet that can be followed as well. All of these raw food diets have one common rule, 75 percent of all foods consumed should be eaten raw or warmed to a temperature of not more than 1050 F.
Weight loss tops the list of raw food diet benefits; since you consume mostly plant foods you are actually consuming fewer calories. More importantly the diet is usually low in fat; you would have to consume a very large amount of nuts regularly to increase the fat content.
Enhanced energy levels are another benefit; your body is not working hard to digest the heavy food you feed it, nor is having to produce much needed enzymes. These enzymes are present in raw food in abundance and since there is no cooking or processing they do not get destroyed.
When you eat cooked food the enzymes have been completely ruined and this means your body has to struggle to digest the food. When this happens toxins begin collecting in the body; the next step is obesity and other diseases.
Uncooked foods have good bacteria and micro organisms that can benefit your immune system greatly and aid digestion greatly.
Some people consider eating raw foods to be a very deprived life but that is wrong thinking. All you need to do is add some of these foods to every meal to feel the difference and then soon enough you will want to make the switch.
