Omega Three Fatty Acids Are Your Key to Health
By Jennifer P. April

It seems everyday there's another report on the benefits of omega three fatty acids. If you've been hearing or reading any of these they may sound to good to be true.

I mean, how can these fatty acids really do all that? Reduce inflammation, protect you from heart attack, boost your immune system, improve your memory and concentration. Even elevate your mood and relieve mild depression.

That's a tall order.

But here's the thing to remember, omega 3 fatty acids are essential nutrients. They're required by your body for it to function well.

They power your brain.

The main component in these fatty acids that's so important for your health is the DHA fatty acid. Your brain is made up of about 60% of this nutrient. But if you eat the typical American diet, you're likely not getting all that you need. That makes you deficient in these important nutrients.

You can get more DHA by eating more fish, walnuts, olive oil and flaxseeds.

Cold water fish like tuna, salmon, or sardines are excellent sources of omega three fatty acids. Nutrition experts recommend 2-3 servings a week to ensure you're getting your daily recommended allowance.

You can also take fish oil supplements. They're high in Omega 3's and many doctors recommend them.

Cardiologists recommend them to their heart patients to prevent repeat heart attacks. The omega 3 in fish oil supplements protect your cardiovascular system. They keep your arteries clear which prevents heart attacks. Studies show they also may lower your cholesterol levels and your blood pressure.

Other research shows they improve your mind. They protect you from Alzheimer's Disease and dementia. Plus, they improve your focus and concentration. In fact, they've even been found to calm and focus children with ADD and ADHD.

Plus, they reduce inflammation throughout your body. They protect you from rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases.

These nutrients are so important that a Harvard study found diets deficient in omega 3's could lead to death. This study found 63,000-97,000 preventable deaths a year in the United States.

These deaths could be prevented just by getting the omega 3 fatty acids in your diet that your body needs.

Fish oil naturally has 30% of the necessary DHA acids your body needs. Concentrated fish oil, which you'll find in supplements, can be up to 60% or more.

So, there you are, research shows omega three fatty acids are required for your health. Without them, you could be risking your life.
