Improving Memory With Herbs In A Few Steps
By Jean Helmet

The results of many studies have revealed that the memory can be actually enhanced by using certain medicinal herbs. Some of the herbs that seemed to be the most effective are ginkgo biloba, rosemary, ginseng, green tea and sage. Hence, improving memory with herbs is indeed possible.

Improving memory with herbs such as ginkgo biloba is realized in several stages. First of all, the blood flow to the brain and to the other organs is improved. This is achieved by expanding the blood vessels and helping them to relax. When the brain gets less than the necessary amount of oxygen, the effects become visible soon. The brain usually needs 20% of the total amount of oxygen that is consumed by the body.

If blood circulation to the brain is performed with difficulty, this amount decreases drastically. In this situation, people experience fatigue, memory loss, low concentration power, headaches, vertigo and many other consequences.

Another effect that proves that improving memory with herbs is possible is the prevention of certain diseases that lead to memory disorders. Stroke can be prevented in two ways. First of all, the ginkgo biloba extract prevents the bad cholesterol from changing into plaque. If this transformation occurs, the plaque gets deposited on the arteries, fact that determines a hard blood flow. The excessive plaque will lead in time to stroke.

Another way to prevent stroke is to fight the free radicals. This action is performed by two of the substances contained by the ginkgo biloba extract. The flavonoids and terpenoids, which are two types of antioxidants, are capable of neutralizing the free radicals that help in the development of stroke. The action of the free radicals is even more powerful when people make contact with environmental toxins, such as cigarette smoke, air pollution, radiation and ultraviolet light. The free radicals may also provoke several types of cancer.

Ginseng and green tea are other medicinal plants that bring evidence that improving memory with herbs is possible. These herbs are rich in antioxidants, too. They also act as energy boosters. By increasing the energy and changing the mood, ginseng and green tea are able to decrease the stress and depression levels.

As it is known, depression represents the main cause of memory loss. Improving memory with herbs such as rosemary is also simple. As many studies have shown, this herb seems to enhance the memory processes directly, unlike other herbs.
