When most people hear the term cardiovascular, they immediately think of the heart. We feel our own heart "pound" from time to time, and we tend to get nervous when this happens. The importance of the heart has been recognized for a long time.
As we get older, more and more signs of cardiovascular system disturbances start to appear. In some instances, the venous valves weaken, and purple snakelike varicose veins appear which is caused by the pooling of blood in the feet and legs and inefficient venous return resulting from inactivity or pressure on the veins. Cardio exercises are important to keep a healthy heart and for those who wanted to lose some weight.
Here are some ways to begin a moderate cardio exercise program that are good for the heart.
1. Choose an activity that you are fond of doing. It's best to do an exercise that you'll actually do and not just the one that you think of doing. Walking is a best exercise to begin because it won't need any special tools and can be done anytime and anywhere. You can also try other activities that involve a continuous movement just like swimming, cycling, running, rowing, climbing, etc.
2. Begin this with 2 to 3 day with a day of rest in between workouts.
3. Start with a 5 to 10 minutes warm up of light cardio exercise that will gradually increase your heart rate.
4. Increase the amount of your pace and intensity. Start where you are and not where you would want to be. You may be able to exercise only for some minutes at a time, but eventually it will quickly change as long as you are consistent.
5. End each workout with a stretch so that the muscles that you've worked will be relaxed and kept flexible.
6. Each week, you can increase your workout time until you can continuously work for 30 minutes in a session.
7. Need not worry about pace or distance. You can start by focusing on your workouts and building time, for the first week. You still have plenty of time to work on your pace and distance.
These are just some of the ways to start you exercise program. Make sure that you wear good shoes as you start your exercise. You don't need to rush as you can start slowly to avoid injuries and misery. Enjoy your program and take time to check on your body's capacity to sustain. Make sure you give your body ample time of rest. Take those varicose veins away.
