Running Advice for Someone Who Is New to Running
By Chris J Landry

For someone who is new to running, it can seem very intimidating...

Here are some tips for someone who is new to running.

1. Give it 21 days: Your first 21 days when you start something new can be the most important. This gives yourself time to develop a routine, and allows your body and mind to get adjusted to running.

2. Start off slow: It's important when you start running is to start off slow and gradually increase your speed.

3. Walk / Run Option: Walk run combination is a great way to get started, this is when you do intervals of walking and running at first.

4. Buy good shoes: The most important investment for the longevity of your running experience is buying good shoes that fit your feet. Not all feet are created equal so your selection will be different from your friends selection. You will want to choose a pair that fits almost like a slipper when you try it on. The three types of shoes that you can buy are motion control, cushioning, and stability. (You can find more information about choosing the right shoes in my website below)

5. Buy good socks: The second most important investment is to buy good socks to. Cotton socks can give you blisters so you want to avoid them. You will want to buy polyester, acrylic, or CoolMax running socks.

6. Have fun: Its really important to have fun! Don't be hard on yourself at first. It takes time to develop a strong running routine and at first you will want to have fun with it.

7. Stick with it: Don't give up!

Good luck!
