How to Get a Better Vertical Jump - 3 Ways to Make You Jump Higher NOW
By Andrew Mason

Want to know how to get a better vertical jump? It's actually fairly easy to do when you know how. Here are 3 ways to make you jump higher... in 2 weeks or less.

#1) Plyometrics

Everybody knows you need "plyos" to improve your leaping ability-but most perform them the WRONG way and end up wasting tons of time.

If you do "plyos" the wrong way you might as well not do them at all.

So what is the WRONG way?

Doing a HIGH NUMBER of reps per set. Many players believe that if they just keep "pushing themselves" they will get results.

Not true

Exercising past your peak performance level is only working out your "slow twitch" (endurance) muscles. There's certainly nothing with endurance training... it just won't help become explosive.

Pursing yourself until you can't do another rep... also known as "failure training"... is NOT how to get a better vertical jump.

The only part of the set that matters is the beginning when your performance is at its' peak-anything past that is OVERKILL.

#2) Lift weights

This should be done just like the "plyos"-with a low number of reps per set. "Pumping iron" is one of the best ways to make you get "mad hops" because it increases your POWER.

Power is just as important as speed-contrary to popular opinion.

#3) Be CONSISTENT

Many athletes are quite enthusiastic in the beginning... but after awhile their excitement naturally drains and they give up. Don't let this happen to you.

How do you STAY motivated?

Set VERY SPECIFIC goals of what you want to achieve by the end of the program. Most athletes give up because they don't know what they are trying to accomplish.

It's a proven fact that you are more likely to succeed in any part of life when you have very specific goals.
Also make sure it's something hard to reach-almost impossible. Do not be "realistic" like most people tell you.

True - it's theoretically easier to gain 5 inches on your vertical than 15-20. But you are actually more likely to achieve the 2nd goal because it's more motivating and you are more likely to follow through with it.

So the answer to "how to get a better vertical jump" is simple-do "plyos" and weight training... perform a small number of reps... and set very CLEAR and HARD to reach goals. These are GUARANTEED ways to make you jump higher almost instantly.
