Weightlifting for women is a growing area of the fitness community. More women are shedding the taboo of weight training and moving into the men's side of the gym to get a real exercise. Here are 5 great exercises that will help you lose fat, get toned and get the body you always wanted.
Squats: You've probably seen a lot of the men doing this. This is where you have a barbell, with weights, on the back of your shoulders and squat down. It's incredibly hard, but stick to it. You'll get the butt and legs you've always wanted.
Skull Crushers: Don't let the name scare you. You can use either a dumbbell or a barbell. You need to lift the weight straight up above your head, and then bend your arms back, so the weight falls behind your head. Lift it straight up in the air again. This will work your triceps area and will help get rid of that sagging area of fat.
Dumbbell Bench Press on a Ball: Grab one of those balls that are floating around the gym. Mostly the women at the gym use them. Grab a set of dumbbells and lie back on the ball. Cock your elbows out and push the weight straight up in the air. This will work your chest area. The chest muscles are such a large area and this will cause your body to have a significant amount of calories burned.
Barbell Bent Over Rows: Grab a barbell and just bend over slightly at a 30-degree angle. Keep your back completely straight. Let the bar hang straight down and grip it with your palms facing away from your body. Pull the weight up and keep your elbows tucked in. This will work your back, which is another significant muscle area. This will have your body burning a significant amount of calories.
These four exercises are enough weightlifting for women. Don't over do it at the gym and take your time. Use lightweights first, just to get a feel for it. If you do these exercises on a regular basis, you'll lose fat, get toned and be in progress for the body you want.
